The Westcott Theater played host to some creative glow-in-the-dark garb last Thursday, November 13, 2008. The Westcott Theater (524 Westcott Street) threw a neon toga dance party, where local DJ’s the Smash Brothers and DJ AFAR spun beats. These haute tunes inspired some great DIY creations. Many bedazzled themselves in hi-lighter colored bed sheet. Even those without togas looked rather salty in flirty frocks or sweet graphic tees. These bold styles raise the question: Is Westcott the new Marshal? You be the judge.

LANDMARK LOOKS: Beauties of the Ball

The big screen serves as the backdrop for most masquerades, appearing in period films such as Romeo & Juliet or Pride and Prejudice. Syracuse is no Hollywood, but on Halloween weekend, people--and places--transform themselves. Attendees at the Delta Kappa Epsilon Undertaker's Ball Thursday night did just that as party-goers donned extravagant masks that mimicked the upper-crust of society of past centuries. Feathers, glitter, and glam provided the night's most memorable accessories. 

LANDMARK LOOKS: Stylish Satire

There's no better way to to poke fun at the hoopla surrounding this year's election than by dressing up as a favorite political personae for Halloween. At last Saturday's Newhouse Master's Halloween party, the taste for sharp satire was evident in the costume choices of several revelers. Here, some favorites:

Sarah Palin was joined by her (very pregnant) daughter, Bristol. Note Palin's sideswept bangs, pageant sash, and bookish glasses:


John McCain. Especially notable - the spot-on facial impression of the presidential candidate:
And - a personal favorite - Joe the Plumber, complete with plumbing apparatus in hand.
